What type of people does UHY Hacker Young attract?
UHY Hacker Young attracts people from all sorts of backgrounds. However, generally speaking, it attracts bright and energetic people who want to experience a variety of work and clients.
What do you like most about your role?
I like the fact that we are given responsibility from the start. It means you learn on the spot!
Why UHY Hacker Young?
I think at the training stage it is very important to have lots of support and UHY Hacker Young provides a ‘collegial’ atmosphere. I also chose UHY Hacker Young as they are part of a well respected International network, UHY International, which has strong presence in the US and China, two places that I wish to go on secondment to.
How does the firm support you as a trainee?
When you begin your training, you are assigned a mentor. My mentor is a third year student. I think this really helps you settle in, as your mentor is always there for guidance and support. As well as my mentor, all staff are really helpful; there is always someone available to answer any questions I have and I always get feedback.
What makes a good auditor?
It is important to be client focused, well organised, have strong communication skills and always pay particular attention to detail. You have to be passionate in client service and confident communicating with both clients and people in your team.
What advice would you give to graduates wanting to apply to UHY Hacker Young?
Really look into what the ACA is about: make sure you have done research on the firm, your role and the qualification.
What is the atmosphere like at UHY Hacker Young?
Professional and collegial.
